The Best Kept Secret for Couples Visiting Fort Lauderdale

Scott and his family

When couples visit Fort Lauderdale, I know the usual plans: dinner on Las Olas, a walk along the beach, shopping, maybe a nice hotel with a pool.

Those are all great. But after spending more than 40 years around South Florida's waterways, I think there's another experience couples should put much higher on their list: getting out on the water together on a completely private boat.

I'm Scott Fleischer, owner and captain of Bottoms Up Adventure Charters in Pompano Beach. What I love about taking couples out is that a private charter gives you something that's hard to find on a typical vacation: uninterrupted time together, away from the crowds, with the freedom to decide what you want to do.

And you don't have to spend the entire day fishing or following someone else's itinerary.

You can make the day completely yours.

Forget the Crowds for a Few Hours

One of the biggest advantages of booking a private boat charter is privacy.

When you spend the day with me, it's your group on the boat. There's no crowded tour with strangers sitting next to you and no rigid schedule telling you when it's time to move to the next stop.

I can take you cruising along the Intracoastal Waterway, find a beautiful place to relax, stop at a sandbar, look for dolphins, or simply find a quiet stretch of water where you can enjoy being together.

For couples visiting Fort Lauderdale, that's a pretty special way to spend an afternoon.

You can:

  • Leave the crowds behind.

  • Explore South Florida from the water.

  • Swim and snorkel together.

  • Relax at a Pompano Beach sandbar.

  • Enjoy a drink while taking in the scenery.

  • Listen to your favorite music.

  • Watch the sunset together.

  • Build an entire day around the two of you.

That's what makes a private charter different from simply renting a boat or joining a large tour.

Start With an Adventure — or Don't

Every couple is different.

I've had guests who want an adventurous day from beginning to end. They want to get offshore, try private fishing, explore the coastline, and finish the afternoon at the sandbar.

I've also had couples who basically tell me, "We just want to relax."

That's easy, too.

If you've always wanted to try private fishing together, I'll take you offshore and show you what South Florida fishing is all about. If one of you loves fishing and the other isn't quite as enthusiastic, we can still build a trip that gives both of you something to enjoy.

That's one reason I like a private charter so much. I'm not trying to force your day into a package.

I'm creating it with you.

The Sandbar Might Be Your Favorite Stop

If you've never experienced a South Florida sandbar, I think you're missing one of the simplest pleasures of being here.

Imagine stepping off the boat into warm, shallow water, finding a comfortable place to float, putting on some music, and realizing that you don't have anywhere else you need to be.

That's the kind of experience I can create at a Pompano Beach sandbar.

For couples, it's a great opportunity to slow down and actually spend time together without distractions.

You can swim, snorkel, paddleboard, relax on the boat, or simply enjoy the water.

And if you're celebrating an anniversary, birthday, engagement, or just taking a much-needed vacation together, that relaxed atmosphere can become one of the highlights of your trip.

Then Stay for the Sunset

This is where I think the experience really becomes special.

After we've spent the day exploring, fishing, swimming, or relaxing, I can time the trip so we finish with a South Florida sunset when conditions and scheduling allow.

I've spent countless hours on these waterways, and I still enjoy watching the light change across the water.

My sunset cruises Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach guests enjoy give couples the chance to slow everything down at the end of the day.

  • No restaurant reservation.

  • No traffic.

  • No rushing back to the hotel.

Just the two of you, the water, the changing sky, and the South Florida coastline.

If you're looking for romantic boat tours that feel personal rather than overly staged, this is exactly the kind of experience I'd recommend.

You Can Make It Romantic Without Making It Complicated

You don't need an elaborate plan to have an unforgettable day together.

I've found that some of the best moments happen naturally.

  • Maybe you catch a fish together during private fishing.

  • Maybe you spot dolphins while we're cruising.

  • Maybe you spend an hour floating at the sandbar.

  • Maybe you're sitting beside each other as the sun goes down.

Those are the moments I want to create.

And if you're visiting Fort Lauderdale for a special occasion, I can help you build the trip around that occasion.

Couples celebrating can choose from experiences such as:

  • Private fishing.

  • Sunset cruising.

  • Sandbar relaxation.

  • Snorkeling.

  • Paddleboarding.

  • Dolphin and wildlife viewing.

  • Intracoastal sightseeing.

And because it's your private charter, you can combine several of them.

What About a More Energetic Date?

Not every couple wants a quiet romantic cruise.

  • Maybe you both love being outdoors.

  • Maybe you're competitive and want to see who can catch the biggest fish.

  • Maybe you want music playing while you spend the afternoon at the sandbar.

That's where my party boat tours can become a completely different kind of date.

I've also had couples join larger celebrations with friends, including bachelor groups and bachelorette boat parties. A private boat can be just as much about having fun and being active as it is about relaxing.

The important thing is that I don't decide what your perfect day looks like.

You do.

Why Couples Choose a Private Charter

To me, the real value isn't simply being on a boat.

It's what being on a boat allows you to do together.

You're away from the usual vacation routine. You're seeing Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach from a completely different perspective. You have the freedom to change the pace and spend more time doing the things you actually enjoy.

That's also why I enjoy creating private fishing trips and customized boat adventures for couples. I get to learn what you're interested in and then help turn those ideas into an actual day on the water.

And if you're traveling with friends as well, the same concept works for groups. Party boat tours, private fishing, sandbar adventures, and bachelorette boat parties can all be customized around the group.

Your Best Fort Lauderdale Memory Might Be Offshore

When couples ask me what they should do while they're visiting Fort Lauderdale, I don't think the answer always has to involve another restaurant, another attraction, or another crowded beach.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is get away from all of that.

  • Get on a boat.

  • Explore.

  • Swim.

  • Fish.

  • Relax.

  • Watch the sunset.

Enjoy a few hours where the only schedule that matters is the one you created together.

That's what I want every couple who steps aboard my boat to experience.

Whether you want private fishing, a peaceful sunset cruise, a Pompano Beach sandbar adventure, or a combination of everything, I'll help you build the trip around the two of you.

And if you're visiting Fort Lauderdale, I wouldn't wait until the last day of your vacation to decide.

I'll take care of the boat and the local knowledge. You bring the person you want beside you.

Let's get out on the water and make your Fort Lauderdale trip something you actually remember.
