The honest answer is that I never know exactly what the water is going to show us.

I’ve spent more than 40 years around South Florida’s waterways, and even after all that time, I can still get excited when a pod of dolphins suddenly appears alongside the boat or when we spot a sea turtle surfacing nearby.

There is something about dolphins that gets everyone excited.
It doesn't matter whether you're six years old or sixty. When dolphins appear near the boat, everybody reaches for their phone.
I've watched families stop what they're doing just to watch dolphins swimming and playing nearby. I've seen kids who were initially more interested in swimming suddenly become completely fascinated by the wildlife around them.
That is one of my favorite parts of running family boat tours.
Dolphins are wild animals, so I can never promise that we'll see them. I don't want to make promises about wildlife that I can't control. What I can do is use my experience on the local waters to give us the best opportunity possible to encounter the incredible wildlife that calls South Florida home.
Sometimes you see them from a distance.
Sometimes they surface surprisingly close.
And every once in a while, you get one of those moments where everyone on board goes completely silent because something special is happening right next to the boat.

Sea turtles are another incredible animal you may encounter during a South Florida adventure.
Seeing a sea turtle in its natural environment is completely different from seeing one in an aquarium or rehabilitation facility.
They're wild, they're peaceful, and they have a way of making everyone slow down and appreciate where they are.
If we're fortunate enough to spot one, I always encourage my guests to take a moment and simply watch.
Depending on where we are and what we're doing, you may see a turtle surfacing for air or moving through the water below us.
For guests who love nature and wildlife photography, these unexpected encounters can also become some of the best pictures of the entire trip.
I especially enjoy these experiences when I'm taking couples or families out because they give everyone something to share together.
What You Might Discover Beneath the Surface
The wildlife isn't limited to what you can see from the boat.
Once we reach an area that's appropriate for swimming or snorkeling, another world opens up underneath us.
South Florida's warm waters can be home to an incredible variety of colorful tropical fish and other marine life.
When conditions are right, I can take guests to areas where they can get in the water and explore with masks and snorkels.

I always remind first-time snorkelers that they don't have to be experts.

A trip to the Pompano Beach sandbar isn't just about swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the sunshine.
The shallow water can also give you an opportunity to observe marine life from a completely different perspective.
Depending on the conditions, you may see fish moving through the clear water while you're standing or floating in the shallows.
I can bring along snorkeling equipment and a paddleboard, and I also have a four-person raft available for guests who simply want to relax in the water.
You can spend part of the day exploring and another part doing absolutely nothing.
Honestly, both are pretty great.
